it's times like this that i am glad i can fly and perch on tree branches, high above the flooded streets. my feet get horribly cold in those conditions.

hum, this will be my first year of valentine's day that i will actually participate in. as i understand it, one buys valentines for all their friends. is there anything more to it that i do not know about? i would hate to look rude by not including a, um, lollipop with each valentine, for example. i'm afraid i do not know the rules behind all the human holidays and celebrations.

also, what do you give someone that you like more than anyone else?

this snow is quite uncomfortable. i am forced to remain in my bird form for most of my days. it is a pity. i have grown fond of being a human. it seems easier to connect with others in that fashion. the chill is still harsh on my delicate human skin, even with the appropriate clothing. i suppose i will have to wait until spring for things to get back to normal.

i unfortunately am still rusty on what people in these cities celebrate and when. if there was gift-giving involved, i'm afraid i probably missed out on it. i suppose giving a late gift is better than giving none at all. yes, i think i shall do just that. now to think of what to buy...

i have been spending some lovely time with venn. he is quite generous and chivalrous--something i haven't experienced first person before. it is nice. it lightens my day thinking about him it. it is also this time of year that i miss my vaporeon friend. without her, i fear i am a little awkward around the remaining pokemon and females all together. i admit, i am probably awkward around everyone. it is something i hope to work on in the future.

i am thinking that will be my new resolution. get to know people better. yes. that sounds lovely.

i am relieved that winters here appear to be much warmer than winters in the arctic or beneath cold caves. it makes for an easier time when i am in human form.

however, despite the draw of warm beverages, the cafe is relatively deserted because of the chilly weather.  i presume one would rather heat up instant coffee in their homes rather than pay 4 gold for a hand-crafted coffee.

venn, i sense you are tiring of the boring hours as well. if were to, say, hypothetically bring in a chess board, would you care to take me up on a game or two during the slow hours?  i would welcome the stimulation.

One of the biggest draws that got me into DCRP was all the Star Fox apps and characters floating around. I guess it's been a hidden dream to RP out a real epic thing with as many characters involved as possible, but with half the cast AWOL or just not in the RP anymore, it's kind of sad.

The nice thing about Apping Fox would mean that he suddenly has tons of acquaintances to talk to, and getting my toons to talk to others is usually the hardest part.

I wouldn't be too interested in the brawling because neither of my toons fight that well. The Mario Party thing would've been cool, but it fell around the time where I kept getting recurring flu symptoms, so that didn't work out.

Those aside, I love those big group get-togethers. As you probably recall, I ADORED those Homecoming dance logs. Something like that, all fancy or exciting or something where everyone's invited and relationships of any kind, sexual or platonic, can grow. We never did get the Water Park log off the ground, but maybe with some smoothing out of the rules/intentions, it'd go better next time.

It doesn't even have to be a theme park. Maybe Porky or Eggman or somebody creates and accidentally (?) lets loose this raging portal into another dimension. Whatever is in the dimension is up for discussion. For instance, there's the zone Knuckles' arch enemies were banished to, and that place was nothing but floating in space with bits of aircraft debris floating around. I'm sure there are a ton of other ideas on Sliders, I dunno, but it might be cool to throw our toons into a completely unfamiliar environment and see if they can figure out how to escape from it.

the weather is getting noticeably chillier. normally i do not mind the cold, but the harsh winds irritate my eyes and legs. i feel as if i should treasure the last few days of warmth while i still can.

venn, would you care to join me on a stroll around the city after your shift? i would enjoy your company.

I propose some of the girls get together and do some shopping. I think Siren and Cecilia were going to at some point, but I say the more, the merrier. It'd be a nice way to chit chat, maybe ask questions about things they should know but don't, that sort of thing. All while hunting down a really awesome Halloween costume or something.

it seems the city has little use for glass figurines. my job at the cafe is the only thing keeping me financially afloat at the moment. it is quite worrisome.

perhaps i should look into a new profession. i love glass blowing and sculpting, but there is just no demand for it. i can always practice on the side. for now, the problem is deciding on a job i can be happy with. i am not sure what else i am good at, though. i feel i will have to do some soul searching in the near future.

the flooding the other night... it made for a surprisingly busy shift.  i would believe that the scary washings of mother nature would prompt her children to purchase a warm drink dispite the bad goings-on.

i am always happy to serve the public.  if they need a cup of caffein, i will be there to serve it to them with a smile.

i did learn a lesson that day, though.  in torrential rain, it is best to travel places in articuno form rather than in human form.  it prevents clothes from getting wet.  and though i don't feel cold in wet clothing, it is most uncomfortable before it dries.

wha... what is going on? the city is overwhelmed by odd mechanical creatures... they do not seem friendly at all.

i am worried. i am unsure of what to do. i feel i must help but... it has been so long since i have participated in combat.

as a means of relaxation, i decided to attend a movie last night. judging by the numerous positive reviews over "iron manhood," i thought it would be a nice movie.

a nice movie about a man possibly struggling with willpower or doing the right thing in extreme situations.

it was awful. i feel as though i've experienced things no one should experience. what kind of person would think these sorts of things are appealing? i do not know.

my apologies for being uncommunicative as of late. admittedly, there has not been much to comment on as far as work and life go. still, i've recently remembered how therapeutic writing down my thoughts can be and hope to up my activity.

i shall see you all around town, as i always have. i still have some glass figurines up for sale, if anyone is interested.

things are going well with my new job at the cafe. i am still not used to standing up for long periods of time, and i do wind up with sore feet at the end of the day, but interacting with friendly customers and the pleasant chit-chat with my coworkers makes it worth it.

i decided to challenge myself and sculpt something more difficult than a vase or a bowl. i attempted a seel, and i do believe it came out rather well. if i find someone who would like to purchase it, that would be splendid, but i am rather proud of it and wouldn't mind keeping it in my personal collection.

it is such a nice day today. i think i'm going to go for a short flight.

i do believe i have my very first retail job. ...if one might call it that.

the funds i earn will be put toward a nice living arrangement, such as an appartment. i have heard that they are easier to afford if you live with a roommate. is anyone also currently looking for a place to live that would be happy rooming with me? please let me know.

also, i was happy to see venn on my first shift. familiar faces make the transition into customer service much easier. i look forward to meeting my fellow employees and perhaps making new friends. i already feel that this has been a good choice and many great things will come out of it.

i would like to apply for a job at the cafe, but i am aware that i might need to go to an interview, first.

where would I go about setting one up? i am eager to begin earning some finances to better my glass modeling business.

i have received word that there are openings for employment at a local store. i was instructed to ask one "venn" about it. if you can read this, sir or madam, could you inform me of the requirements of obtaining such a job, and whether the pay would allow me to rent a place of shelter?

the nights are still pleasantly cool. i will be sad when the warmth returns.

i have arrived safely in diamond city. it is different from saffron in many ways, but ... seemingly comfortable, all the same. i will have to meet the local townsfolk and establish a suitable source of income.

but not now. now i shall rest my wings and enjoy the cool spring air.

Personality:
Articuno is very reserved and naive. She had very few friends while growing up, and this may cause some awkward social interactions or slips in politeness. As a pokemon, many have tried to "capture" her as their own over the years, but none have been successful. It's those kinds of encounters that make her avoid others so strongly by default. Overall, she's grown used to her solitary lifestyle and has sorrowfully come to terms with it. She's aware that she's the last of her kind, and it depresses her deeply to think she can never bear children.

As a pokemon, she has great empathy for nature, especially ice and cold weather. She is quite comfortable in cold weather. She takes great delight in flying freely in the air and enjoying her freedom. In contrast, she's extremely nervous around fire, having only negative experiences from trainers' fire pokemon and a terrifying wildfire she encountered at one point in her life. In addition, despite having a link to ice, she's also capable of receiving telepathic messages, however, she's unable to respond to them other than verbally.

Backstory:
Articuno had no parents to raise her or teach her the ways of the world. She had to learn them the hard way herself, which could be difficult at times. All she had to accompany her were the other pokemon in the Seafoam Islands, which she guarded fiercely during her time there, but her fellow Seel, Cloyster, and Psyduck feared her and her power, systematically avoiding her and leaving her isolated on her island within the caves.

At one point in her life, she decided to try something new and flew away to Saffron City, where she was quickly befriended by a Pidgeot in gijinka form. Knowing how vulnerable and tempting she'd be in her bird form as a legendary, he taught her how to transform into a human to better disguise herself. He also introduced her to the humans' public school system, where she received a general education over the next few years. While studying art in high school, she realized she had a passion for glass figurines and decided to become a glass sculptor for a living.

With no income to afford a college education, she purposefully failed her last year of high school two times in order to take advantage of their art department as long as she could. Once she learned enough from her teachers to create decent-looking figurines, she allowed herself to graduate, and soon after moved to Diamond City in hopes of starting up a glass sculpture business.

What brings this person to Diamond City?:

Misc. Notes:
Physically, in both bird and human form, she looks to have only recently hit adulthood, though in reality, she's probably 50 years old or so. I blame This is because she's a legendary pokemon, and only one of her species can exist at any point in time.

Also, in her journal entries, she never types in capital letters, and she uses very few contractions.
